Street Outreach for Youth
Help and Support for Unhoused Teens
Our Street Outreach Services are for any youth ages 12 – 21 years old in the greater Kansas City area who are unhoused, runaway, or in need of additional services.
The Synergy Services Street Outreach Team provides basic necessities, resource connections, and support for youth to find housing, work, and critical care. This team also serves as a bridge to Synergy House our emergency youth shelter for youth 12-18 years of age.
Important Phone Numbers
Take a moment to save these phone numbers in your phone to be prepared in case you, a friend, or a family member ever need help.
Safe Place is
Here for You
If you ever find yourself in a tough situation and need help right away, look for the yellow and black Safe Place sign and tell an employee at the location that you need a Safe Place. They will call the hotline and a Safe Place Responder will be there as soon as possible.
Safe Place sites include QuikTrip, KCMO/Mid Continent Public Libraries, YMCAs, Metro Buses, Restaurants, and more. Or text “SAFE” and your street address, city, and state to “44357” for your closest Safe Place location (24 Hours). Synergy Services partners with reStart and Drumm Farm to serve as the metropolitan sponsor of the Safe Place Program.
Visit Us at the Youth Resiliency Center
All youth are encouraged to use the Youth Resiliency Center as a drop-in location. There, teens can take a hot shower, do laundry, access the internet, and receive meals, hygiene items, and clothing. Youth also have access to the YRC for mental health services and case management. Â
The YRC is open for daily recreation services and social time for the local community youth each afternoon.

Clothing
As a program client, you have a connection to clothing. We keep some clothes ready for emergency needs. But we can also help with shopping for clothing via thrift stores as well as helping to connect you with Clothes Closets in the community.
Housing Needs
Housing is one of primary things we want to accomplish with you. This can include helping you get into Emergency Shelter, apply for Transitional Living Programs, or finding a place of your own.
Food
Food is another way we can help you along the way. This could mean helping you get connected with food pantries, supplying you from our own resources, or helping you apply for benefits like SNAP. We want to make sure you aren’t going hungry, so don’t hesitate to ask.
Education
Education is a wonderful thing, but can be a barrier for some advancement. We want to help you wherever you are on your education journey. This could be finishing high school, getting a GED, or even applying for college!
Phones and Technology
Access to phones and computers is an essential part of becoming independent. We can help you get a phone and help pay for service while you are a client. We can also help you get access to computers at one of our locations or through the public library system.
Medical Needs
It’s hard to get ahead when your health is suffering. So be sure to tell us what’s going on with you. We can help you apply for health insurance or gain access to a clinic. We can help you get connected for help with things like: Dental, vision, general checkups, STD testing. Staying healthy is key to being independent.
Transportation
We can help make sure you have access to transportation (private and public transit) to the important appointments you have. You MUST schedule these things through your case manager. Personal transportation will depend on staff availability.
Baby Supplies
Being a young parent is hard. But there are things we can help with when you are a client. We can help connect you to support groups, help you get access to care, or help with certain supplies for your child. Be sure to ask your case manager if there’s anything you need for your child, and we will do our best to help.
