Building Resiliency & Creating Opportunities

For young people, the opportunity for self-expression, new experiences and sense of belonging they find at our Youth Resiliency Center are critical to healthy development and the ability to reach full potential.

For adult domestic violence survivors, building confidence and self-esteem are critical to breaking the cycle of violence. When a survivor is self-confident and able to maintain meaningful employment, the risk of landing in an abusive relationship decreases significantly.

That’s why we created our EXCEL© (Expanding Capabilities and Employment Levels) curriculum to teach participants life and job skills that enable them to become self-sufficient. Program curriculum is comprised of five core workshops: self-image, communication, workplace relationships, decision-making/goal-setting, and job search. These core areas can be enhanced by adding any of the nine optional workshops: career exploration, stress management, responsibility, leadership, mature relationships, teen nutrition, buying/maintaining a car, budgeting, and savings & investing.

By strengthening basic “transferable” skills in areas such as communication, conflict resolution, problem-solving and goal-setting, participants can conquer their overwhelming fear of failure and are challenged to reach their full potential.
