Youth Resiliency Center Coordinator

Youth Resiliency Center

 

Youth Resiliency Center Coordinator - FT Position – This position will coordinate the scheduling of activities and volunteers for Synergy’s Youth Resiliency Center. Some of the events or programs at the Youth Resiliency Center include:  Creative Arts Center, Street Outreach Program, Drop In Center, Recreation Programs and Learning Center.

The hours for the position are 11a-7p, M-F. There are some events that may be outside of these hours

*Position will be filled 1st quarter 2021. Interviews for the position will begin the first of the year.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Responsible for coordinating the Youth Resiliency Center calendar, including structured activities provided both by individual volunteers and volunteer groups, campus staff and contracted educators. Plan and conduct groups, activities and workshops to youth during the times the Youth Resiliency Center is open. Manages all contracts with contractors.

Determines volunteer needs for the YRC in collaboration with YRC staff.  Discusses with Synergy’s Community Fund Raiser, Volunteer and Intake Coordinator the specific numbers of volunteers needed, the roles/responsibilities and/or projects that need to be accomplished by the individual volunteers and/or groups.  Will also determine the days of week/ hours of day volunteers are needed.

Coordinates the provision of resources to meet basic needs of clients including requesting food and supplies, art supplies, scheduling of activities and utilization of Resiliency Center facilities.  Oversees maintenance requests for the YRC’s drop-in center.

Works with Synergy’s IT staff to assist in managing the maintenance of the computer lab.

Collect and reports monthly, quarterly, and yearly statistics; attends regular meetings and trainings as appropriate.

Responds to calls from youth and community related to the Youth Resiliency Center. 

Coordinates resources and services for youth accessing the Youth Resiliency Center.  Educates youth on available services and connect youth to these services.  Fosters a welcoming community where youth will want to return and stay connected.

Advocates and empowers members of the LGBTQ+ community and is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and celebratory space for LGBTQ+ youth.  Represents Synergy in the community at LGBTQ+ events, planning annual LGBTQ+ events, facilitating GLOW, as well as supporting the local Transformations group. 

Leads recruitment and facilitates participation in Monthly Youth 4 Change meetings and other activities associated. The groups/transportation to and from can last until 9 pm.

Participates in required staff development training and staff meetings.

Networks with community and other organizations that serve youth in order to create partnerships for the Youth Resiliency Center.  This includes community activities to promote the YRC and recruit new youth.

Documents and follows all protocol per the Youth Resiliency Center Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), completing all logs and paperwork required for the program. 

Sorts and maintains organization of donations and supplies.

Maintains client confidentiality and professionalism.

Communicates consistently and regularly with Manager, others within the agency and community staff.

Participation in Performance and Quality Improvement activity is required by each employee.

Serves in the TLP/SOS/Safe Place on-call rotation.

Positions requires Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two years related   experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  An Art and/or Recreation background in curricula, program planning and implementation experience is preferred.  Bachelor’s degree in social services field preferred and/or Youth Development/Human Services Certification.  Prefers experience in working with at-risk youth and the LGBTQ+ community.

All staff must be 21 years of age, pass a background check (Children’s Division/Central Registry/Child Abuse), drug screen, fingerprint screen, have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance. Position requires CPR, Med Tech Certification and Chauffeur’s License within 30 days from date of hire
