Transitional Living Program

 

Transitional Living Program Youth Advocate - This position will provide advocacy, crisis intervention, support, to young adults ages 16-21 who were homeless and have entered the Transitional Living Program.  Follow Standard Operating Procedures for site in day-to-day responsibilities. Step in for case manager as needed.  Maintain organization of donations, supplies, and apartment essentials/equipment, and inventory.

Wednesday 9am-1pm/6pm-12am

Thursday Off

Saturday 6pm-12am

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

May complete client intake and discharge paperwork in case manager’s absence.

Oversees and provides guidance for basic life skills to clients, such as parenting skills, cooking skills, and provides support for clients.

Supports and/or reinforces case management goals.

Provide transportation for clients as needed.

Maintain accurate documentation and client records.

Monitor the house and apartments.

Assists with training of volunteers and utilizes volunteer’s time to help meet client needs.

Attend internal and/or external trainings and workshops to meet the 40 hour per year licensing requirement as long as within department budget and staff/client ratios are met.

Forwards maintenance requests to Program Manager as needed.

Maintain client confidentiality.

Maintain communications with other staff members – both written and oral.

Works late hours for availability of residents who need night time support.  Hours may include 6pm – 2am and include a rotating weekend day.  Either a Friday or Saturday night will be worked.

Attends and participates in weekly staff meetings/case reviews.

Conduct weekly house meetings.

Maintain a clean environment as necessary i.e. cleaning facility areas, office area, laundering program linens and completing other household tasks as needed and/or assigned.

Collects, organizes donations and supplies in both location storage areas and in storage facilities.

Oversee menu planning for the program and youth, if applicable.

Act as coverage advocate on call.

Participation in Performance and Quality Improvement activity is required by each employee.

Prior experience working with youth, especially homeless and/or at risk youth preferred. Having knowledge of community resources a plus. Bilingual Spanish-English preferred. 

Position requires an Associates degree or equivalent from two year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree in social services preferred. Prefer prior experience working in a social services agency. Must be at least 21 years of age, pass a background check, drug screen, fingerprinting and have a valid driver’s license and poof of car insurance. Position requires CPR, Med Tech Certification and Chauffeur’s License within 30 days from date of hire.
