Youth Resiliency Center/Transitional Living Program  


Youth Resiliency Center (YRC) Advocate/Transitional Living Program (TLP) Youth Advocate-PRN

Provides a continuum of services for runaway, homeless, and street youth up to age 21 at the Youth Resiliency Center. Provides advocacy, crisis intervention, support, to young adults ages 16-21 who were homeless and have entered the Transitional Living Program.  Assists in the drop-in program activities of the Youth Resiliency Center. Follows Standard Operating Procedures for site in day to day responsibilities. Maintain organization of donations, supplies, and apartment essentials/equipment, and inventory.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Provides daily supervision and programming in the drop-in center as needed. 

Engages youth and creates a positive environment for youth accessing the YRC utilizing Trauma Informed Care, Positive Youth Development, Strengths Based Care and Harm Reduction philosophies. 

Assists the YRC Program Manager and YRC Coordinator with creating and maintaining monthly calendars, reporting what activities are facilitated each day.

Assists with weekly group sessions for Exploration hour in the YRC as needed.

Assists drop in youth with meeting needs and case management as needed.

Teach communication, teamwork, coping skills, healthy competition, and positive peer interaction.

Creates a structured and consistent environment in the Youth Resiliency Center.

Monitor the house and apartments in the TLP Program.

May complete client intake and discharge paperwork in case manager’s absence.

Oversees and provides guidance for basic life skills to clients, such as parenting skills, cooking skills, and provides support for clients.

Supports and/or reinforces case management goals.

Provide transportation for clients as needed.

Assists with training of volunteers and utilizing volunteers’ time to meet clients’ needs.

Maintains a clean environment as necessary, i.e. cleaning facility areas, office areas, laundering linens and completing other household tasks as needed and/or assigned.

Participates in required staff development training.

Assists with school related and agency groups/presentations as needed.

Documents and follows all protocol per the SOP, completing all logs and paperwork required for the program.  Must be organized and have excellent follow-through with paperwork and requirements.

Initiates needed tasks for completion.

Accepts other cooperative duties as needed.

Maintains client confidentiality and professionalism.

Maintains accurate documentation and client records.

Attends staff meetings, case reviews, and weekly house meetings as needed.

Collects, organizes donations and supplies in both location storage areas and in storage facilities.

Assist with menu planning for the program and youth, if applicable.

Communicates consistently and regularly with YRC Program Manager, TLP/MGH Program Manager, YRC Coordinator and other agency staff and community representatives.

Asks questions of the YRC Program Manager, TLP/MGH Program Manager, and YRC Coordinator about uncertainty in job role or function.

Position requires Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Bachelor’s degree in social services field preferred and/or Youth Development/Human Services Certification. Prefers experience in working with at-risk youth and the LGBTQ+ community.

All staff must be 21 years of age, pass a background check (Children’s Division/Central Registry/Child Abuse), drug screen, fingerprint screen, have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance. Position requires CPR, Med Tech Certification and Chauffeur’s License within 30 days from date of hire
