Domestic Violence

Domestic violence shelters provide safety and sanctuary to battered women and their children. Residents are provided with food, personal care products, access to public transportation as well as assistance from Synergy's community education programs such as Court Services, and the EXCEL employment skills program. Individual, group counseling and education are required for the residents of SafeHaven. School aged children attend public school. The program includes recreational opportunities, parent education, and peer support. For more information about domestic violence visit our links page.

The Children’s Center is an emergency placement shelter which provides a safe, therapeutic environment.  Children who are in the state’s custody may come into the program through the Children’s Division.  This is typically a 30 day stay until the child’s Caseworker finds a more permanent placement.  Parents/Guardians may also bring their children into the program through Crisis Care.   This may include but is not limited to homelessness, domestic violence, incarceration, or unexpected hospitalization.  Theraplay and referrals for other services are provided for the children and their families.

Youth ages 12-18

Synergy House

Located in Platte County, Synergy House provides short-term emergency shelter for youth in crisis, including homeless, runaway, abused and neglected youth ages 12 to 18. Synergy House youth participate in individual and group counseling, center-based schooling, recreational activities and vocational education utilizing Synergy's own EXCEL program. Transitional Living Program Synergy's Transitional Living Program provides an independent living environment, individualized skills assessment and training, as well as support services for homeless youth age 16 to 21. The main goal of the Transitional Living Program is to support youth in achieving self-sufficiency and realization of personal goals.
