Youth Street Outreach Worker – 1 FT position working primarily day time hours with some evenings. Responsible for working directly with homeless, runaway, and at-risk youth from Jackson County to provide case management, advocacy, referrals, and community resources as needed. The primary goal of the Youth Street Outreach Program is to help youth obtain safer and more stable housing options. In addition to direct client services, this position is also responsible for community outreach in Jackson County, including building relationships with school counselors/social workers/McKinney-Vento School Liaisons, staffing resource tables at school and community events, and helping operate the Safe Place program in the Kansas City Metro Area. The Youth Street Outreach Worker will lead a drop-in life skills group at Kansas City Public Library locations and will help staff Synergy’s Youth Resiliency drop-in Center one afternoon/evening a week. The Youth Street Outreach Worker will assist with client record keeping and data entry as required by funding sources. Position requires Associates Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Applicants with positive youth development experience, specifically with homeless youth and LGBTQ youth, preferred. Candidate must be familiar with Jackson County community resources for homeless youth. Must be at least 21 years of age, pass a background check, drug and fingerprint screening and have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance. Must be able to drive a 15 passenger van, lift up to 25 pounds and keep to an organized schedule
