Teen Parent Support
Parenthood is the leading cause of school drop out for teen girls. To address the unique challenges facing teen parents, our Teen Parent Support programs help young women stay in school and create a stable and self-reliant home life.
The programs pair pregnant and parenting teenage mothers with volunteer mentors who provide support, information and friendship. Additionally, educational group meetings held on a monthly basis provide practical parenting information and the opportunity to connect with other teen moms and helpful resources.
The program accepts young moms who are pregnant or parenting up to their 22nd birthday. Mentor Moms participants are working on their high school diploma or GED.
While only 40% of teen moms nationally will ever graduate from high school, 64% of our program participants over the past five years have either graduated or are currently enrolled in school.
