Parenting Classes
Strong, healthy families are the cornerstone of a violence-free community. And it all starts with good parenting skills. That’s why we offer parenting support classes including Practical Parenting, a skill-building program focusing on the basics of parenting and Active Parenting of Teens, an acclaimed parenting program that offers a proven approach to working with adolescents.
The ninety-minute classes (5:30 to 7:00 p.m.) are held weekly. Child care is available.
Practical Parenting
This pracitcal skill building program for parents fo children up to age 12 focuses on the basics of parenting including:
- Disciplining your child
- Understanding and nurturing your child
- Managing anger in parent-child relationships
Eight-week sessions starting on May 17, 2010 and September 27, 2010.
Active parenting Teens
This acclaimed parenting program for parents of children age 10 and older offers a proven approach to working with adolescents including:
- Communicating effectively with teens
- Direction with discipline
- Insight into today's teen issues
Six-week sessions starting on March 29, 2010 and August 2, 2010.
